Inspired by Wagner's Die Walküre,

 "Ride of the Valkyries".

Die Walküre (The Valkyrie) Is the second of the four operas that form Wagner's cycle "The Ring of the Nibelung". The opera is based on Norse mythology, where a Valkyrie is one in a group of female figures who decide which soldiers die in battle and which will live.

 Brief Summary of Die Walküre:
Brünnhilde, born of Wotan and Erda,  protects Siegmund, son of Wotan by a mortal woman Sieglinde, his long-lost twin sister, & wife of Hunding. Wotan has had nine daughters with Erda, the earth goddess. The Valkyries bring heroes slain in battle to Valhalla where they can guard the gods.
